A Study On The Audio-visual Style Of James Wan's Film

As a Chinese American director in Hollywood,James Wan's first work "SAW" in2004 attracted wide attention.So far,Wan's nine films have been highly praised.As a rising star of contemporary horror film directors,his films have shaped many classic characters and horror bridge sections,forming his unique personal style.Hollywood type films focus on business and entertainment,and the production features are process and model.Therefore,it is the director's individual ability and unique audio-visual presentation that make him stand out in the same type of films.James Wan's films can find a delicate balance between presenting certain sensory stimulation and creating an atmosphere with audio-visual elements.He broke the audience's inherent concept that there are only two types of horror films: bloody violence and psychological fear.He combines various elements together,carries out effective interpretation and reconstruction,integrates his creative thinking into the audio-visual language,and makes the audience feel the difference between his film's audio-visual style and other Hollywood films of the same era.This paper is divided into five chapters.In the first chapter,the author gives an overview of James Wan's films and an analysis of the current research situation of his films.The second to the fifth chapters focus on the visual and auditory presentation techniques,the selection of images and the inner meaning of James Wan's films.At the end of the paper,the author summarizes the audio-visual style of James Wan's films,and summarizes the general law that his films are widely praised.This paper studies the significance and influence of the audition style of James Wan's films,and puts forward some suggestions for directors to strengthen their personal thinking in their audiovisual creation.This paper focuses on the audio-visual style of James Wan's films,hoping to find out why he is the most representative director of this era.From his films,we can learn from many ways of making horror films and explore the development trend of future horror films,so as to provide some inspiration for the way forward of type films.I hope this paper can make some help to the theoretical guidance of the development of horrorfilms in the future.
