With the rapid development of corpus linguistics, prefabricated chunks that have been stored and used together have proved to exist in a large amount in the expression output of native speakers. The role of chunks in the expression of native speakers also affects its status in second language teaching.Compared with English, chunks have not been well applied in Chinese teaching, and empirical research on chunks based on spoken language corpus of Chinese learners is not sufficient. In this study,on the basis of transcribing and marking the oral test corpora recorded by front-line Chinese teachers over the years, this study builds a corpus of intermediate Chinese learners' oral test corpus of about 70,000 words. In the compositions of the second final exam of the second-year students of the Chinese language major of the Chinese Language Institute of BLCU,110 compositions were selected as written corpora for comparative study.Based on these two types of interlanguage corpus, the chunks lists were selected by using the automatic extraction tools and manual intervention.A comparative corpus research method is adopted to investigate the characteristics of spoken language chunks used by intermediate Chinese learners from the perspectives of overall data analysis and specific examples. In the last part,it also draws on the research results in other fields and provides some reference suggestions for the teaching and acquisition of Chinese chunks for Chinese teachers,Chinese textbooks and Chinese language learners. The main findings of this study are as follows:1.Quantitative investigation results show that :Intermediate Chinese learners use more chunks in the spoken words than in written words. In spoken Chinese and written Chinese, the number of the two-word chunks in the types and tokens are both much higher than multi-word chunks. In the formal category, semantic and pragmatic typical chunks are the most important chunk types. These chunks account for more than 75% of the two corpus chunk lists. In functional categories, there are more reference functional chunks in spoken and written Chinese than in the other two major functional chunks.2.The results of qualitative investigation show that intermediate Chinese learners are overly dependent on certain high-frequency chunks. Some idioms that are difficult to understand and have low recurrence frequency are the chunks that intermediate Chinese learners use insufficiently in the oral test.3.The characteristics of chunks used in intermediate CFL learners' spoken Chinese are the result of the combined effects of factors such as the frequency and order of acquisition of chunks in spoken Chinese and the high pressure of immediate coding in oral production.
