In June 2016,the documentary "Life Matters" broadcast by Shanghai Satellite TV received numerous acclaim and won multiple international documentary awards. After a lapse of two years, the second season of "Life Matters" was launched simultaneously on January 1st,2019 on Oriental TV and the Internet platform. With the sincere record of the doctor-patient area and the observation of reality, the popularity after broadcast was unabated. This is a victory for the production and broadcasting of medical documentaries and a victory for the construction and presentation of documentary discourse. From the perspective of the creative context, the creation of "Life Matters" is inseparable from the frequent occurrence of conflicts between doctors and patients, the social background of unfinished medical reform, and the deep-seated motivations of the existing medical documentary creative dilemma. As a series of documentaries, the first season of "Life Matters" is an immersive presentation of the doctor-patient relationship, and the second season breaks away from the doctor-patient relationship and observes the social reality. In the discourse construction of "Life Matters",the cultural writing of mainstream discourse, the rational expression of elite discourse, and the image discourse of popular discourse are three-fold.With the help ofVatican Dick's discourse analysis, the discourse construction strategy of "Life Matters" includes both macro and micro aspects. The macro level is mainly realized through a multi-level proposition framework structure composed of primary propositions and micro propositions. The micro level is mainly through visual rhetoric,Structural rhetoric, sound rhetoric to construct and present. The successful application of "Life Matters" in discourse construction strategies helps the audience to establish an identity in the "resonance" of life cognition, profoundly feel the value of mainstream culture, the reconstruction of death culture, and the plight of reproductive rights, and through traditional customs The replacement of modern concepts and the social healing value of disease metaphors reshape concepts in the "imagination" of traditional culture.
