| As an international language,there is no possibility to deny the importance of learning English.But the fact is that even the significance has been highlighted,English teaching has been proven inefficient,especially in the teaching of English reading.Reading is the very source of inputting vocabulary,grammar and cultural background information,sometimes it is the only way for Chinese senior high students to get the knowledge.But the traditional way of teaching and learning is less helpful to developing students’ reading skills and ability,even do harm to the passion of students’ learning.Tracking this problem has become an urgent mission in current English teaching and research circles.This study focus on the method of action research,and the theme is the model,means and effect of applying extra-curricular reading in the additional courses in senior high school.This research was conducted in Shanxi Linfen NO.1 Middle School Class 1821 and 1822,and lasted over one and a half years,including 104 students.The action research progressed three cycles: the first one was the trial and exploration,which focused on the classroom teaching;the second was the adjustment and improvement,which focused on the curriculum design;the last cycle was the promotion and application,which focused on the assessment and revision.The conclusions are as follows:1.Through the action research about the teaching strategies and model of extra-curricular reading in the additional courses in senior high school,I came up with a model----4I,which means identification、inquisition、interpretation and illustration.And I developed the model though the following action research.2.After the research,I established the curricular framework of extra-curricular reading in the additional courses based on the situation of my own senior high school,including teaching aims,teaching contents,teaching procedures,teaching activities andthe curricular framework,which proved to be an efficient way to improve students reading interest,skills and ability.The innovation in this research includes expending the resources of the traditional courses and establishing the new reading teaching model based on my own school. |
