The "Senior high School English Curriculum Standards"(2017 edition)clearly states that the main goal of English teaching in Senior high school is to build the core literacy of students in English,and to use this as a starting point to promote Senior high school curriculum reform.English reading questioning is an important part of English teaching.Whether it is from the requirements of the new curriculum reform or the professional development of teachers,it is worthwhile and necessary to study the impact of English reading questioning strategies on students' core qualities.An effective questioning strategy for English reading teaching in senior high school is an important training approach for core literacy of English subjects.Translation shows that the study of questioning efficiency in English teaching is of great significance and importance.This research is based on the theory of humanistic learning,recent development zone theory,and effective teaching theory.20 teachers and 212 students from Yiliang No.2 Middle School in Kunming City are the subjects of this research.Questionnaires and classroom observations were used in the research.The main research questions are:1)What are the characteristics and main problems of teachers' use of debate strategies in English reading classes in high school? 2)What are the factors influencing the use of debate strategies by English teachers in high school?After a four-month study,the researcher found that the current situation and existing problems of senior high school English teachers' reading class questions are as follows: First,the middle and low-level questions are relatively large;Second,the time that teachers wait for students to answer questions early;Third,unequal opportunities for students to answer questions;fourth,teachers lack awareness of situational questioning.The influencing factors are: First,teachers pay too much attention to the teaching of language knowledge,neglecting to guide students to develop learning or thinking skills;Second,teachers lack training in professional development and effective teaching.This research proposes targeted solutions: First,generally speaking,English teachers should adhere to the principles of effective teaching and teacher professionaldevelopment;adhere to the core literacy concept of English subjects.Secondly,specific to the teaching practice,first of all,to determine the purpose and question related to the questioning;secondly,to prepare for the questioning beforehand;Thirdly,to create easy and comfortable learning progress for students;fourthly,to simplify the questioning and use familiarity Words and answers.
