A Reflection On The Vividness Of Character Images In Chinese Paintings

He Youzhi,known as "the leading authority of comics",is one of the most eminent comic artists in China.In his lifetime,He Youzhi created hundreds of comic books and the character images he portrayed are vivid and interesting,and distinctive in personality.Besides,He Youzhi developed the skills and accumulated experience on drawing humans in the field of comic book creation,which is enlightening for the Chinese figure painting creation.Combined with the special background of his life,this thesis reviews He Youzhi's life experience,analyzes the cause of the formation of his unique artistic style,traces the origin of his artistic concepts,and introduces the life and achievements of He Youzhi as a whole.The research selects three representative works,"White Light","Chaoyanggou" and "Xiao ErHei's Marriage",analyzes the main characters from the aspects of character personality shaping,character modality expression and character image diversity creation to explore the extra-art work of He Youzhi in the creation of comic books.An the end this thesis combines the author's practice of facsimileing "He Youzhi Draws Three Hundred and Sixty Trades" and creating "Life Scenes in Chongqing" to discuss the technical and conceptual impact of He Youzhi and his art.The appendix presents the author's award-winning works and some sketch works created during the facsimileing of He Youzhi's paintings.These works are a concrete display for consciously pursuing the same aesthetic appeal with He Youzhi.Through a series of studies and investigations,the author makes a profound reflection on artistic creation: Only by precipitating the heart into life,becoming adept in observation and perception,paying attention to experience and accumulation,and digging out emotional and interesting images from life,will one create fresh and vivid figure paintings.It is hoped to provide some practical and theoretical help and reference for figure painting creation.
