Plants have always been closely related to human life.Chinese literati had a tradition of singing about plants long ago.Throughout Chinese history, the Wei and Jin period was an important period for the awakening of ancient humanistic feelings, especially with the rise of the eupatrid who had a monopolistic position in politics, economy and culture, and became the representative class of ideology and culture at that time.In the Wei and Jin dynasties,on the one hand, the literati systematized Laotsu and Chungtsu's philosophical thought to create the metaphysical spirit reflecting The Times;on the other hand, they did not weaken the ideological status of traditional Confucian ethics, enlightenment principles and political norms, and then a culture that Confucianism and metaphysics can co-existed guided the choice of entering political world. This formed unique literary activities of the Wei and Jin period. The literati represented by Ruan Ji and Ji Kang developed philosophical speculations on the relationship between human and life, human and nature, human and heaven. The description of plants and the thoughts and emotions they endow in plants have reached a new level. At this time, the literati were keen to introduce the description of plants into their works, and the creation of plant articles reached the peak. The basic framework of this study is as follows: part one is the introduction including the significance of the topic, literature review, etc.part two is the reflection of Confucianism in the description of plants in Wei-Jin literature,Taoist thought in the description of plants in Wei-Jin literature and the collision of Confucianism and Taoism in plant literature. It is unfolded from the dark surge of Confucianism in the Wei and Jin dynasties, the reflection of Confucianism in the Wei and Jin dynasties, and the thoughts of seclusion of Confucianism;the development of Taoist thought in wei and jin dynasties with illustration from the idea of longevity, the way of seclusion and the method of exorcism perspectively;cultural thoughts and humanistic feelings and the literary mode that Taoism as a method to convey Confucianism, and analyzes the ideological evolution of Tao Yuanming,Ruan Ji,Ji Kang and other scholars in the Wei and Jin dynasties under the background of the integration of Confucianism and Taoism.Based on part two,Chapter three summarizes particularity of the Wei-Jin plants literature: the Wei-jin literati advocated metaphysics of Taoist, but also continued Confucianism. When they were unappreciated in politics, two kinds of thoughts were expressed respectively in the plants literature: some literati following Taoist thought totally cling to the landscape, shun the world in a negative way,and advocate pursuing immortality and longevity, the other Some scholars were still influenced by the Confucian orthodox thoughts in their hearts and moved forward, struggling between Confucianism and Taoism.Generally speaking, influenced by Confucianism, the metaphysicians in Wei and Jin dynasties took the same road of assimilating nature as Mingjia(a group of people who believe in the Confucian ethical code). Moreover, owe to the combination of Confucianism and Taoism by the Confucians,Mingjia,as a part of Confucians was are inevitably decorated by nature. That made their core thought more rationally.Taoism and Confucianism started to mutually complement and develop.
