Writing is an important skill in English learning.It is the embodiment of learners' comprehensive language ability.Chinese and English belong to different language systems.There are no grammatical rules such as verb tense change and agreement in Chinese,so it is difficult for Chinese English learners to master verbs.In recent years,domestic scholars have done a lot of research on writing errors,but most scholars analyze errors from the perspective of vocabulary and discourse,and there are few studies on high school students.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze verb errors in writing of high school students.Guided by the error analysis theory,interlanguage theory and language transfer theory,and based on Corder's error analysis method,this study selected 300 different types of compositions from two examination papers of two grades in a senior high school in Haikou city,Hainan province.The corpus retrieval software Ant conc3.2.0w was used to conduct data statistics on verb errors in the composition,trying to explore the following questions: 1.What is the general situation and proportion of verb errors in the writing of the two grades? 2.What are the differences in verb errors in each dimension between the two grades? 3.What are the main reasons why students make verb errors in writing?The results show that,firstly,there are a large number of errors in tense,set phrase,agreement and infinitive in high school students' English writing.Second,there are significant differences between the two grades in tense errors.The number of tense errors in grade 1 is much higher than that in grade 2.Thirdly,due to the differences between English and Chinese and the abundant rules of the target language,the main causes of verb errors in students' writing are inter-language transfer and intra-language transfer.From the above discussion,the author puts forward some suggestions on improving writing teaching,hoping that teachers can pay attention to the verb errors in students' writing,improve the current situation of writing teaching,and effectively improve students' writing ability.
