Study On Ye Guangqin's Family-subject Novels

Ye Guangqin's family-subject novels focus on the daily life of aristocrat families,present the living condition and emotional situation of the Banner people after the collapse of the Manchu Dynasty.Full of the delicate emotion description,Manchu cultural and Beijing characteristics,Ye`s novels are loved by readers and have important value in the literary world nowadays.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction presents Ye`s biography,summaries her family-subject novels,combs the related research,and frames the research scope.The main body could be divided into three chapters.The first chapter "Fate of the Banner people" not only explores the flash qualities of Banner people which conflict with the civilian society,but also analyses the reason and necessity of the aristocrat family decline by probing Banner people`s daily life details,tragedy fate and the process of family disintegration.The second chapter "Artistic presentation of family story" focuses on the author's strategy of narration and style of writing.Utilizing the theories of narratology,this chapter analyzes the petaloid structure,prose plots and multiple perspectives of Ye`s novels.Furthermore,this chapter also savors the unique Beijing style which roots from Ye`s family experience,and discusses the extending role played by traditional opera elements when interpreting the novels.The third chapter "Multiple values of family-subject novels" explores the value of the Ye`s novels in culture,literary history and society deeply.With its profound cultural connotation,Ye`s novels deeply analyse the culture of the Banner people exquisitely;In a literary environment which focuses on civilians rather than aristocrats,Ye`s novels,based on the author`s family background,promote the noble spirit worthily;In the narration for aristocrat families` vicissitudes,Ye also conveys her attention and ponderation about the social realistic issues.The conclusion summarizes the full text,points out the shortcomings and limitations of Ye`s family-subject novels,and affirms the value and the reference significance to the contemporary literary world of Ye`s creation.This thesis deeply analyses the overall features of the Banner people in the early 20 th century which are presented in Ye`s novels,aiming to excavate the emotional significance,artistic charm and multiple values contained in Ye`s works.On this basis,this thesis attempts to grasp the original intention of the author,explores the humanistic value and period significance of the novels,and makes unremitting efforts to enrich the research on Chinese contemporary family-subject novels since the new century.
