Space composition is one of the basic problem in artistic practice and theoretical studies. As an effective method for painting organization,it solves the essential demands of easel painting. After the watercolor from the west came to china, under the integration of different artistic systems and cultural contexts between eastern and western,is faced with the challenge of inheritance and reference, integration and development. The spatial expression shows a variety of features. This paper has carried on the discussion to space composition of watercolor in the present.First of all,it summed up three frequently-used patterns of space structure from the watercolor works: perspective space, plane space and combined space. And analogized the concrete spatial processing methods under the each structural style.Secondly,it expounds the organization and application of point, line, surface, color and texture in various structural styles. Finally, the paper makes a dialectical analysis of the differences in form and style presented in different spatial structures. It is concluded that: the space composition of watercolor is a basic pattern in which the realism representing the traditional space is parallel to the modernism reflecting the modern painting space.Space is not only the expression content of the painting, but also the organization form. The connotation of space has been expanded.Under the influence of other visual arts, the space composition develops from the direct narration to the compound sense of metaphor. In the cross-border infiltration with multi-cultural and artistic forms, the art space of watercolor changes from closed to open.In addition to the introduction, this paper is divided into five chapters:Introduction: It defines the concept of "space" and "painting space",sorts out the research status of painting space at home and abroad, and explains the purpose, significance, research ideas and methods of this paper.Chapter one:This section expounds the three types of spatial composition of western art in different periods of history.Chapter two:According to different spatial structures, the corresponding spatial processing methods are derived.Through the specific works, the paper analyzes the order of the picture form.Chapter three:This section analyzes the organizing ways of morphological elements such as point, line, surface, color and texture in different spatial structures and the role they play in the formation of the overall picture form.Chapter four:This section combined with specific works on different forms of spatial performance to discriminate artistic style from the perspective of visual perception.Chapter five:Under the guidance of the artistic concept of “Great Art”,diversified integration has become the development trend of watercolor.Artistic creation is closely linked with social life, and seeks its position in the times in constantly weeding out the old and bringing forth the new.The exploration of space composition by artists expands the boundaries of art and forms a more inclusive and open cultural atmosphere.
