Under the backdrop of globalization,international cooperation and communication can be seen everywhere in daily life.And interpretation therefore is playing an increasingly important role in transnational teaching and course sharing.In this report,the interpreter studied the interpreter’s consecutive interpretation for the course of storytelling through object and drawing of Art College of Hunan Normal University in perspective of schema theory.The term “schema” is first initiated by the German philosopher Immanuel Kant who regarded schema as an active organization of past reactions,or past experiences.The Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget developed the concept and believed that schema is a cognitive heuristic used to comprehend complex new information.As an important concept of cognitive psychology,schema theory catches increasing attention in interpretation and is believed can provide explanation and analysis for linguistic and cultural differences appeared in translation and interpretation.The report is mainly divided into four parts.In the first two parts,the interpreter briefs on the background of the interpreting task,its features and significance,ranging from the interpreter’s pre-interpreting preparation,the interpreting process to the feedback from the clients.the last two parts are the theoretical framework and case analysis of the report.After elaborating schema theory’s definition,characteristics and types,and the information-processing methods people usually take underthe guidance of schema theory,the interpreter applies the schema theory to her own interpreting practice to analyse the function of schema theory in interpreting process especially in listening comprehension,analysis,memorization and expression,and testifies that schema theory can help the interpreter strengthen her comprehension about the source language,avoid ambiguity,make accurate assumption and improve memorization ability as well as interpretation quality.This report provides recommendations for interpreters to deal with professional and intensive interpreting tasks. |
