Research On Small Sculpture In Song Dynasty

Sculpture in Song Dynasty plays an important role in the history of ancient Chinese sculpture art,with various forms and varieties and great achievements.Compared with other history periods,small sculptures in Song Dynasty are unique and closely related to the changes of this era.Through the study of small sculptures in the Song Dynasty,we can not only see the changes and characteristics of the development of small sculptures in ancient China to the Song Dynasty,but also explore the relationship between small sculptures in the Song Dynasty and the changes of the times at that time.This paper takes the small sculpture of Song Dynasty as the research object.It discusses the inheritance and development of the small sculpture in this period,the commonality with the painting art,the expression method and the very unique "children's sculpture" in the small sculpture of Song Dynasty.It also discusses the rich artistic value and the cultural thought contained in the small sculpture of Song Dynasty.This paper divided into four parts:The introduction describes the background and current situation of small sculpture in the Song Dynasty;discusses the current academic research on small sculpture in the Song Dynasty,as well as the basic ideas and research methods of this study;at the same time,it also defines the concept of "small sculpture".The first chapter discusses the historical formation process of small sculpture in Song Dynasty.According to archaeological discoveries,the history of small sculptures traced back to the primitive society.Fromthe primitive society to the Song Dynasty,the function of small sculpture experienced the development from witchcraft,practicality to aesthetics.In the completely ancient Chinese sculpture,the development of small sculpture experienced vicissitudes.From the primitive society,influenced by productivity and other factors,sculpture is mainly small-scale.Then from the slave society,large sculpture and small sculpture began to develop together,but the prosperity of small sculpture was lower than that of large sculpture.Until the Tang and Song Dynasties,especially in the Song Dynasty,small sculptures began to flourish and become popular.With a long history of accumulation and the innovation of the Song Dynasty,various types and materials of sculptures appeared,just like a hundred flowers blooming together,making remarkable artistic achievements.The second chapter starts from the commonality of small sculpture and painting in Song Dynasty.This paper expounds the three common points of small sculpture and painting art in Song Dynasty,that is,small sculpture in Song Dynasty takes line as the body,adopts simplified techniques to shape sculpture image and pursue the effect of vivid and heart writing.Of course,some of these common points are the characteristics of ancient Chinese sculpture itself,but these characteristics are more obvious in the small sculpture of Song Dynasty.Through comparative study,it found that in some specific ways of use,the combination of small-scale sculpture and painting art in Song Dynasty is more closely,there are some changes that have not been seen in previous generations,with distinctivecharacteristics of the times.The third chapter analyzes the small sculptures of Song Dynasty by the way of expression of sculpture creation,which mainly uses the exaggeration,deformation and splicing to create sculptures,and compares with some sculptures of the same theme of the previous generation,the small sculptures of Song Dynasty have the creative ideas with the characteristics of the times.Especially for sculptures of the same theme or type,compared with the works of the Song Dynasty and the previous generation,the creative techniques of the Song Dynasty are more mature,and there are many new changes.For example,the same use of splicing techniques,Song Dynasty compared with the previous generation,splicing methods are more diverse and rich,more artistic.The fourth chapter describes the special type of small sculptures in Song Dynasty,"children's sculpture",and analyzes its image characteristics and causes.Because children's sculpture is the main part of the completely small sculpture in Song Dynasty.First of all,it has a very rich variety and quantity.Second,its artistic characteristics and artistic value are admirable,so this special type is worth studying.In the small sculpture of Song Dynasty,the materials of children's sculpture are mainly clay,pottery,jade and metal.There are three major functional categories: utensils,toys and ornaments.The overall image is naughty and lovely,naive,round and happy-go-lucky.This paper discusses the factors that affect the image of children in small sculptures in Song Dynasty from the aspects of the culture of "Molehe",the attention paid to children in Song Dynasty,and the atmosphere of social entertainment.
