Sergei Rachmaninoff(1873-1943)composed 83 vocal romances in his lifetime,most of which were written in the early period of Rachmaninoff's romances.They are not only still evergreen songs on the stage to date,but also become the important content of vocal music teaching.The author sang and studied the Sergei Rachmaninoff's romances such as "How Fair this Spot","Don't Sing,My Beauty","Vocalise","Spring Waters" during the graduate studies,and selected two pieces of his early songs,did research on the composer's early creation of romance,hoping to better grasp the singing characteristics of his early works and further deepen the understanding of his songs,so as to improve the singing ability.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is an overview of Russian romances,including the concept of Russian romance and its formation and development process;The second chapter is an review of Sergei Rachmaninoff's life and his 83 romances;The third chapter is devoted to the analysis of the writing features of Sergei Rachmaninoff's early romances;The fourth Chapter involves the text analysis and singing analysis of "Don't Sing,My Beauty" and "Spring Waters" selected from his early romances;The fifth chapter is committed to a summary of the common features of his early Romances.
