Study On The Anxiety Of Characters In Zweig’s Ungeduld Des Herzens With The Perspective Of Psychoanalysis

Stefan Zweig(1881-1942)is a modern Austrian novelist,biographer,poet,playwright and essayist.He has written extensively throughout his life,and is most famous for his short stories and biographies.He is good at portraying the inner world of a character and depicting his psychological activities.He traced the character’s heart and soul with his compassionate strokes,reflecting his care and broad mind for human beings.At present,the domestic academic circles have rich research on Zweig’s short and medium stories,and there is less research on his only novel,Ungeduld des Herzens.Ungeduld des Herzens happened twenty-five years ago with Huffmiller’s self-report.Zweig used deep psychological descriptions to portray the Kexfalva,Eddie and Hofmüller,accused war in the word that the culprit was the cause of all tragedies.From the perspective of psychoanalysis,this thesis analyzes the anxiety of the characters in Ungeduld des Herzens,explores the causes of the characters’ anxiety,analyzes the psychological defense mechanisms adopted by different characters,and analyzes Zweig’s creative motivation and soul interpretation of the Aesthetic Significance and Realistic Significance of Anxiety.This thesis consists of three parts:the preface,the main text and the conclusion.The foreword mainly summarizes the current research status of Zweig at home and abroad,expounds the purpose and significance of this paper,and explores the research methods and innovations of the topic.The body part includes three chapters:The first chapter focuses on the analysis of the anxiety and causes of the characters in Ungeduld des Herzens.The reality of anxiety caused by the wealthy father and Jewish identity of the deceased Kexfalva,the nervous anxiety caused by Miss Eddie’s physical disability and libido,and the lesser influence of Hofmüller’s inner feelings the moral anxiety caused by cowardice and external public opinion pressure appears.The second chapter discusses the defense measures and significance of the characters in the Ungeduld des Herzens against anxiety.In the face of his own reality Psychoanalysis anxiety,Kexfalva adopts an escape mechanism,which is embodied in depression and depression.In the face of neurotic anxiety,Eddie adopts an attack mechanism and an escape mechanism,which are specifically reflected as transfer and suppression.Hofmüller adopted a self-deception mechanism and an escape mechanism in response to moral anxiety,which was specifically reflected in rationalization,ritual offset and suppression.By analyzing the characters to adopt different defense mechanisms,analyze the different impacts and meanings caused by them.The third chapter analyzes the writer from the text,through the analysis of Zweig’s creative motive and the aesthetic significance of Ungeduld des Herzens,interpreting the western Jews Zweig anti-war pacifism and the humanitarianism as world citizen care,explore the author’s own anxiety.At the same time,from the profound psychological depiction of the novel,the unique artistic style to appreciate the aesthetic significance of Ungeduld des Herzens.And Zweig’s attention to character anxiety and the call for love and peace have made this work for decades and still have strong practical significance.The conclusion part mainly makes an overall evaluation of the anxiety of the characters in Ungeduld des Herzens,and interprets the sympathy and care of the humanitarian master and literary master Zweig in the novel.Zweig’s condemnation of war,his concern for human anxiety,and his call for love and peace still deserve our attention in today’s society.
