Film is an international artistic language.It plays an increasingly important role in the process of global cultural communication.It is an important channel for people around the world in cultural exchanges and the transmission of national feelings.After World War II,the national strength of the United States has been greatly improved,and it has taken the lead in the field of technology and culture,and the film industry is the center of film worldwide.Therefore,American films occupy the right to speak and take the initiative to the image of themselves and other countries.While Hollywood delivers movies to the world through the mass media,it also transmits its own values,which affects the consciousness of other countries and nations,as well as other countries' understanding and understanding of East Asian countries.Especially before and after the Cold War,American films have become an important carrier for reshaping and building the image of other countries.However,in different periods and in different international forms,the image of the East Asian Other is constantly showing a variety of changes with the relationship with the United States.Based on theories such as colonial theory,comparative literary imagination and cross-cultural imagination,this article reveals the ideology and power discourse behind these images.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction mainly discusses the reasons for selecting the topic,and combs the research status and achievements at home and abroad,and finally discusses the value of the topic and the research ideas of the thesis.The text is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is to sort out the earliest Western impression of the East and its changing process on the time axis.It first discusses the negative imagination of the East Asians in the panic of the "Yellow Trouble",and then discusses the image of China and Japan after World War II,showing the transformation of the image of China and Japan under the influence of the war pattern and national interests.The second chapter mainly discusses the demonized Chinese image in the Hollywood film in the shadow of the Cold War,and reveals the ideological discourse behind the production of Chinese image.It then discusses the image of the Japanese in the context of the Cold War and shows the subordinate and dominant allied relations between Japan and the United States.Then talk about Hollywood's shaping of Hong Kong and Shanghai in the context of the Cold War.Chapter 3 explores the image of Koreans in the Korean War films of the United States and Vietnamese in the Vietnam War films,and discusses how the United States constructed imaginary wars in the films.The fourth chapter focuses on the post-Cold War era.Under the continuation of the Cold War hostile thinking,the stereotypes and new changes of Hollywood films shaping East Asia's image.The final conclusion summarizes the new trend of Hollywood's image of East Asia since the new century,driven by economic interests.
