With the increasing enrichment of cultural life, the public has access to information in different fields. As the study of the human past, archaeological knowledge is less popular than that in other fields. Therefore, research on the development of archaeology abroad can not only promote the domestic study, but also popularize archaeological knowledge to the Chinese public.Jef Verschueren's theory of Linguistic Context Adaptation details the contextual components of linguistic adaptation in translation.Considering the fact that complete equivalence cannot be achieved between English and Chinese, the translator should adjust the translation adaptively according to the context so as to make the translation fluent and consistent with the target language.Based on the translation of the second chapter of Archaeologists in Print : Publishing for the People and guided by Verschueren's Theory of Linguistic Context Adaptation, this report mainly analyses some cases in the translation project and discusses how to make dynamic adaptation in translation from contextual cohesion, intertextuality and sequencing.
