Academic Text Translation Guided By Contextual Adaptation Theory

This thesis is a translation report under the guidance of adaptation theory.This paper combines linguistic context with communicative context,so the adaptive translation of the source language is within the communicative context,which makes the translation more suitable to the expression norms and grammatical rules of the targeted text,in order to achieve the purpose of communicative translation.The translation materials in this study are selected from Leech's The Pragmatics of Politeness.Leech sorts out the politeness theory and puts forward his new view.And he uses a large number of language examples to give concrete analysis,from which Leech presents the whole picture of politeness theory.He makes great contribution to the politeness research.Based on the original four linguistic features of adaptation theory and the translation corpus,this paper considers the adaptability,negotiability and variability of language from connectives words,connectives phrasal and sentence connectives,and proposes corresponding strategies for language transformation.The corpus will be supplemented in the future.
