A Study Of Foucault’s Philosophical Thought Of Life Politics In Late Period

As the main representative of Contemporary Western radical thinkers,Foucault’s research once went deep into philosophy,history,literature,art,law and other fields.In the late 1970 s,Foucault turned his research direction to the field of life politics.In1979,based on his research achievements,Foucault gave a series of twelve speeches entitled the birth of life politics,which was the birth of Foucault’s philosophy of life politics.Based on this series of lectures,this paper studies Foucault’s philosophy of life and politics in the late period,and tries to analyze the influence of Marxist philosophy of practical materialism and political economy on it.The first chapter focuses on the subjective and objective conditions for the formation of Foucault’s philosophy of life politics.Foucault’s consideration and concern for major historical events and his concern for individual life from beginning to end constitute the subjective conditions for the formation of his later life political philosophy.The objective conditions are the compulsory requirements of the frequent political movements and the French college curriculum.The second chapter analyzes the formation process and development characteristics of Foucault’s philosophy of life politics in the late period,which is embodied in a series of analysis and research process.In the birth stage,it mainly focuses on the transformation of power objects,the comparative study of life power and punishment power;in the shaping stage,it makes a genealogical study of state reasons and liberal governance skills;in the mature stage,it focuses on the analysis of German order liberalism governance practice;in the reflection stage,it makes an in-depth study of American Neo liberalism governance practice.The third chapter discusses the appearance of Marx in Foucault’s philosophy of life politics.In this part,Foucault’s identity as a "recessive Marxist" is firstly determined.Then,the frequency of words related to Marx’s thought appearing in the legal text of the birth of life politics is statistically analyzed.Finally,Marx’s Philosophy of practical materialism and politics are discussed The influence of economic thought on Foucault’s philosophy of life politics.The fourth chapter is to analyze the academic value and realistic criticism of Foucault ’s life political philosophy in the late period.As an important part of the contemporary western radicalism,this thought provides a theoretical basis for the following thinkers.At the same time,it also provides rich ideological resources for criticizing contemporary capitalist governance,and provides a new perspective for us to see the secrets of capitalist governance.
