At present,most studies on Chinese reading strategies focus on two aspects,i.e.,teaching methods and student autonomy.While teaching methods have attracted wide attention,studies on student autonomy remains insufficient.In second language learning,grammatical sensitivity,as an indicator of linguistic competence to predict learner's grammatical learning speed,has rarely been studied.As reading is a main part in learning Chinese,how to use reading strategies and how grammatical sensitivity affects Chinese reading comprehension are both very important for second language learners.This paper investigates grammatical sensitivity,Chinese reading strategies and Chinese reading scores of international students who have passed Chinese HSK4 by questionnaire.Then it analyses the relations between them,including the differences among students with different grammatical sensitivities,the correlation between grammatical sensitivity and Chinese reading scores,and the differences between students with different Chinese reading scores in choosing reading strategies.A correlation between the grammatical sensitivity and the choice of reading strategies by the high-score and low-score learners indicates the results as follows.Firstly,the frequency of reading strategies used by the subjects is not very high,and the most frequently used one is the compensation strategy.Secondly,there is a significant positive correlation between grammatical sensitivity and Chinese reading performance.Thirdly,students with different grammatical sensitivities show significant differences in the use of cognitive strategies and compensation strategies.Fourthly,there are significant differences in cognitive strategies and compensation strategies among students with different Chinese reading scores.The study of the relationship among grammatical sensitivity,Chinese reading strategies and scores is of significance both in theory and in practice.Theoretically speaking,it supports relevant theories with data,making the study of Chinese reading more scientific and rigorous.In terms of teaching and learning practice,this paper not only provides suggestions for learners to cultivate correct reading habits based on the conclusions drawn,but also inspires teachers to formulate more effective teaching methods.
