Geling Yan and Amy Tan,the Chinese American writers of the same period stuck between the eastern and western cultures, gain an acute and subtle insight into the survival dilemma and mental depression of the cultural marginal figures. Both of the two female writers give a detailed description with respect to the situation of the Chinese subjects struggling to survive on the edge of cultures in their works, and they are not limited to the simple and monotonous display of the characters' living state. What they focus on in their novels is the presentation of the characters' innermost feelings and thoughts;besides they show the profound influences of ideology upon the construction of the Chinese subjects by virtue of examining the history of their motherland-China.However,due to the different cultural foundations of the two writers, the fate of the marginal characters in their novels is also written in different ways.Being exposed to the ideological discipline of the real world, the human subjects are subjected to the assimilation of personality and the weakening of perception and are confronted with the crisis of losing their subjectivity.Saving the loss of subjectivity has always been the important mission that former scholars have voluntarily taken on,but most of them deny the initiative of the subjects and have not put forward any practical way to help the subjects break away from the tame of ideology. However, the theory of ideological fantasy proposed by Slavoj ?i?ek is able to help the human subjects get a better understanding of the operation mechanism of ideology on the subject construction. The theory also encourages the subjects to stick up to life dilemma and do their utmost to keep distance with the social fantasy that the ideology creates. The two relatively influential novels are selected-The Lost Daughter of Happiness and The Kitchen God's Wife respectively worked by Geling Yan and Amy Tan.And the research is aimed to explore the specific signified of the irrational ideological fantasy existing in the feudal society and analyze the subject construction process of the Chinese subjects driven by the ideology of feudal times. At the beginning, nearly all of the Chinese subjects in the two novels are subjected to castration of symbolic order, filling of desired objects and internalization of ideological fantasy.Their self-construction has been constantly alienated by the ideology of their time.In the end,the Chinese subjects are alive to the hegemony and deception of ideology under the heavy blow of social reality, however due to their different life experience and breadth of thoughts, they launch different levels of transcendence and rebellion. The research is aimed to wake up the Chinese subjects faced with the hypnosis of ideological fantasy with efforts to persuade them to keep sober, break away from the arbitrary manipulation of social ideology left over from the feudal times, keep strengthening their internal drive, maintain their awareness of negating, criticizing and transcending the problems of reality and finally manage to construct the subjects with complete personality and independent spirit.
