Research On The Metaphor Translation In The Discourse Of Western Marxist Economics

"The Money-Energy-Technology Complex and Ecological Marxism" is an academic journal paper about ecological Marxism.It re-examines the notion of use value from the point of view of ecological Marxism.Based on the translation practice of the paper,this report presents the methods employed for translating metaphors.On the theoretical framework of conceptual metaphors proposed by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson,the metaphors in the source text are classified and analyzed,and varying translation methods are subsequently exemplified.In general,those metaphors,which are largely based on embodied experience,such as orientational metaphors,body metaphors,can be translated "directly" from the source text into target text,by which it means the same source domain of a given metaphor is taken to construct the same target domain in target language,whereas in the case of those types of metaphors which are culturally specific,such as opera metaphors and journey metaphors,we should either employ different source domains or de-metaphorize via literal translation.By classifying the metaphors in source text,the author analyzes examples and discusses the translation methods of different metaphors,thus expanding the scope of metaphor translation,and providing reference for the translation of metaphors.
