A Study On The Image Of Vestal Virgin In Legends Of Late Ming And Early Qing Dynasties

Vestal virgin did not originate in the Ming Dynasty,but appeared in large numbers in the Ming Dynasty.In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,as the flourishing and developing period of legend,the government and scholars are willing to disseminate educational ideas or express personal feelings through this form.The absolute loyalty of the virgin to her deceased fiance was symbolic to the scholars who had strong loyalty to the country in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties.Therefore,the image of vestal virgin appeared in a large number of legendary works in this period.The author tries to summarize the image of vestal virgin in the legends written by scholars during the Yi Dynasty,so as to understand the blood and tears in that turbulent era through the text.First,this paper gives a brief overview of the previous studies,illustrates the research methods of this paper,and clarifies the scope of the times and the image of the virgin.On this basis summarizes and analyses the origin,emotional encounter and vestal virgin-keeping ways of the image of vestal virgin in the legends of late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,and then summarizes the writing rules of the image of vestal virgin of the times and the characteristics of vestal virgin of the times behind the image commonness.And then studies the motive function of the emotion and reason of women's image choosing the way of vestal virgin,and explores the emotional relationship of vestal virgin in the legends of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.It can be roughly divided into two categories: first,love is the necessary condition of vestal virgin,and feudal code of ethics is requirements of the times,that is Unity of feeling and reason;second,the choice of vestal virgin and filial piety under the restraint of etiquette and the choice of emotion and reason in love,that is the contradiction between emotion and reason.Last explains the era factors of the phenomenon of vestal virgin and the image of vestal virgin.It also analyses the similarity between scholars and the image of vestal virgin in the period of the Chan ge Dynasties from three aspects: the survivors of the country and the family,the loyal ministers who have not served for the master but are willing to devote themselves to the master,and the firm belief of loyalty.Then by discussing the retroaction of legendary works to the atmosphere of the times to explore the image of chastity as the cause of the writing phenomenon of the times.
