“Salome” is one of the most controversial works by German composer Richard Strauss.This work showed the composer excellent talents for the character portrayal,and presented the strong resistance of women who are repressed to the limit in the patriarchal society.The heroine Salome was originally a naive princess who fell in love with John the Baptist.She repeatedly expressed her love to John the Baptist but was rejected.Finally,she went crazy to satisfy her own desire.Salome's “insanity scene” is the climax of the opera,which is also the focus of this paper.Strauss created the character motives of Salome,John the Baptist,Herod and several major emotional motives,and put these main motives into the music creation of every scene of the opera,by constantly mutating,hiding these music motives,the “insanity scene” of Salome is achieved step by step.From the perspective of Salome's “insanity scene”,this paper attempts to analyze the social background,historical reasons,inevitability and music expression of Salome's“insanity scene”.When creating the “insanity scene” of Salome,Strauss created the motives of characters and key emotions,and constantly changed these motives in each scene,and finally completed the shaping of “scene of insanity”...
