Research On The Female Images In Hemingway’s Works From The Perspective Of Feminism

Ernest Hemingway(1899~1961),is an American journalist and writer,is considered to be one of the most famous novelists in the 20 th century,is the representative figure of the "lost generation" writers.He won the Pulitzer prize in 1953."The old man and the sea" won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1954.In the process of more than 40 years of literary creation,Hemingway developed his own unique style of writing.Hemingway’s concise and capable style is totally different from the style used by previous writers,so Hemingway is evaluated as a writer who brought the revolution to the world literary world.Hemingway’s literary works are loved by writers and readers around the world,and have been translated into multiple languages and published.In his works,there are not only the image of tough guys,but also the image of women with a distinctive personality and profound social significance.He conscientiously speculates on the different consciousness,different destiny and survival wisdom of the female images in his works.Therefore,studying Hemingway’s literary works from a feminist perspective will have a deeper understanding of his writing style and creative consciousness.This paper consists of three parts: introduction,body(1-3 chapters)and conclusion.The introduction introduces the significance of the topic,the research status and the research methods.Chapter one discusses the historical background and influence of female image formation in Hemingway’s works.This paper introduces the development stage and various schools of feminist literary theory,The female images in Hemingway’s works are not only caused by objective factors,but also closely related to Hemingway’s own experience,which lays a foundation for the exploration of female images in his works.The second chapter starts with Hemingway’s masterpiece and analyzes Hemingway’s female image: the imperfect self-consciousness,self-pursuit and the female image that dispels traditional roles.Refuting many critics’ opinion that there are only two female images in Hemingway’s works,"angel" and "devil woman",this paper studies the system of female images in Hemingway’s works from unconscious cognition to conscious cognition.The third chapter expounds the artistic innovation of female image in Hemingway’s works.Mainly from the narrative perspective of innovation,symbol and defamiliarization,and other three aspects of expression.Hemingway used modern art techniques to improve the artistic value of female images in his works and the appreciation level of readers.
