Analysis On Yang Rongguo's Study Of Intellectual History During Republican Period

Yang Rongguo(1907-1978),who wrote under the pen name Yang Tianxi,was a famous historian and philosopher in China.His historical research mainly focused on the ideology history,and had already successively published “Analysis on Ancient Chinese Materialism”,“The Thought of Confucius and Mozi”,and “Chinese Ancient Ideology History”,and so on.As a Marxist historian,he always insisted on guiding the study of ideology history with historical materialism.His academic research had the common characteristics of some leftist scholars.And not only that,he had unique way to study history,and had established his own school of thought.The period of the Republic of China was a crucial period for the formation and maturity of his historical thought.The introduction of this article summarizes the research status of Yang Rongguo.By analyzing the shortcomings of existing research,the origin and purpose of this article are clarified.The first chapter discusses Yang's life and learning,The academic thoughts presented in each historical stage are related to his personal experience and the background of the times,in order to show the trace of his studies.The second and third chapters start from the two important stages of Yang's research on the ideology history-beginning with the pre-Qin and Ming-Qing dynasties.First,I will clarify the background of Yang's research,analyze the academic trend at that time and understand its influence on Yang.Then I will analyze the tests of Yang's articals,and compare his thoughts with contemporary scholars,in order to understand the content and characteristics of Yang's thoughts,and even the study of modern scholars.The conclusion summarizes the characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of Yang's academic methods.Although it is an individual academic research,I hope that it can provide a new perspective for understanding the leftist scholars' academic route and purpose under the influence of times.
