Interpretation is a complex activity that involves many disciplines. The interpreter is not only required to have nice bilingual ability, but also to have rich storage of background information.Schema refers to the existing network of knowledge and experience in the human brain.Schema theory has been applied to psychological study and English teaching. Now,Schema theory is also applied to the study of interpretation. The lack of schema can lead to poor performance of the interpreter, which may mislead the speaker and audience.Nowadays, although some scholars have studied the impact of Schema Theory, only a few have studied its role in interpretation, and few have studied the positive influence of Schema Theory on the pre-task preparation and interpreting process by using their own interpreting practices. This study is under the guidance of Schema Theory and uses the practice of consecutive interpretation in 2019 Physicians' Training of Gerson Therapy as the corpus.Through the case analysis, the author aims to explore the impact of schema theory on the pre-task preparation and interpreting process(listening comprehension, memory, and language output).Under the guidance of schema theory, the author does the pre-task preparation and interpretation practice. In the end,the author finds that under the guidance of schema theory, the pre-task preparation is more adequate and better than before. In this way,the interpreter can have a better performance.Through this paper, the author hopes to make interpreters learn about Schema Theory and apply it into the practice so as to contribute to the interpreting tasks.
