Research On Literary Aesthetics Of Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand,born in 1905 in st.Petersburg,Russia,moved to the United States in 1926 and became the famous writer with two novels “Atlas Shrugged” and“Source”.At the same time,Rand also known as the definition of the American spirit for her philosophy of objectivism,which emphasizes on objective reality and praised the individual heroism,is highly compatible with the American spirit of truth-seeking and pragmatic.Ayn Rand,as a public intellectual,has a great influence on American society.In addition to her status as a novelist,Ayn Rand also published many powerful opinions on the field of human culture and art.Starting with Ayn Rand's philosophy thought,this paper,which adopts the method of text analysis and hermeneutics,explores the main content of Rand's literary aesthetic thought and its embodiment in his creative practice and expounds its value and limitation from the historical perspective.Ayn Rand's literary aesthetic thought and philosophy,all based on the epistemological basis of objectivism and rationalism,are inseparable from each other.Ayn Rand called her literary aesthetic thought romantic realism aesthetics which revealed the aesthetic characteristics of traditional romanticism that attach importance to freedom and creativity.This thought advocates that literature and art should raise the will of human life,but opposes the elements of irrationalism and mysticism in romanticism,and begins to redefine romanticism by criticizing modernist art.Ann Rand criticized the lack of modernism rationality which had set the tone for her literary and artistic view.And her one-sided praise of rationality leads to a comprehensive negation of irrationalism in modernist art,thus neglecting the era significance and value of modernist art.Therefore,the redefinition of romanticism based on such criticism also lacks the progress and inclusiveness of the times.This paper is divided into four chapters in structure.The first chapter summarizes and analyzes the main ideological contents from Ayn Rand's personalphilosophical works,and then examines the source and cause of Ayn Rand's thought in the light of her personal biography.The second chapter summarizes the content of Ayn Rand's literary aesthetics from ontology,value theory and epistemology of literature and art.The third chapter,on the basis of the second chapter,focuses on analyzing the embodiment of Ayn Rand's literary aesthetic thought in her novels and dramas.The fourth chapter analyzes the value and limitation of Ayn Rand's literary aesthetics thoughts from the perspective of ideological history and literary history.
