| Based on the analysis of modern and contemporary artists' works at home and abroad,this paper covers the importance of material language in the cultural connotation and spiritual significance of painting.With the exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Western cultures,art has been constantly developing and innovating in recent years.Nowadays,in some domestic art exhibitions,traditional painting styles are becoming more and more mature,but there are also some problems.The similarity of style,language,media and technology of many works leads to the lack of outstanding individual style of art works,which cannot meet the development needs of current art diversification.Throughout history,it is not difficult to find that the painting style of single media also encountered a bottleneck in the development of Western art.The diversification of material and language expression in painting creation solved some problems caused by single media and brought more possibilities for the development of painting art after Western modernism.The first part of this paper expounds the process of material language moving from the background to the front in Western painting.By analyzing the development and changes of material language in western painting,it makes us understand the importance of material language in painting to the development of art.The second part of the article expounds three characteristics of material language.By analyzing the cases in which modern and contemporary artists express their characteristics in their paintings,it enables us to have a deeper understanding of the different characteristics of material language and draw valuable experience from the cases of modern and contemporary artists.The third part of the article expounds the experiment and research on the material language in personal creation,so as to accumulate some experience and lessons for future painting creation,and then provide new ideas for the development of contemporary Chinese painting creation. |
