Language always takes place in some certain environments,not in vacuum.Classroom environment is one of important factors in language learning,which is one of the most vital elements that can?t be neglected by educators.The New English Curriculum Standard of Senior High School(2017)stresses to cultivate the students? ability to think and judge independently so that students? thinking ability can be developed to distinguish truth from falsehood,which suggests the importance to cultivate the students? critical thinking ability in high school.Critical thinking is the important foundation of individual growth and social sustainable development.What?s more,classroom environment is one of the important factors to affect the critical thinking,which has been investigated by some scholars.Therefore,it is necessary to research the situation of senior high school students? perception of classroom environment and critical thinking and the relationship between them.The research was investigated among 207 senior two students in Hohhot tumed middle school with the questionnaire Middle School English Classroom Environment Inventory(MSECEI),the questionnaire Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV)and an interview.The author aims to research: ?What?s the general situation of the senior high school students? perception of English classroom environment;? What?s the general situation of the senior high school students? critical thinking disposition;? What?s the correlation between the senior high school students? perception of English classroom environment and critical thinking disposition.According to the study,the results can be summarized as following:? Senior high school students? overall situation of perception of classroom environment is in middle level.As for subscales of the senior high school students? perception,mean score from the highest to lowest is: teacher support,class order,students cohesiveness,task orientation and cooperation.Besides,the author also investigated the mean score of each item of the each subscale to support concrete suggestions for teachers to improve students? perception of classroom environment.? Senior high school students? overall situation of critical thinking disposition is also in middle level.As for the subscales of senior high school students? overall situation of critical thinking disposition,the mean scores of these scales “open-mindedness”,“analyticity”,“inquisitiveness” and “maturity” are all above 4,and the mean scores of the scale “truth seeking”,“systematicity” and “self-confidence” are near to 4.And more than half students? critical thinking disposition mean scores are in or above in middle level in “truth seeking”,“open-mindedness”,“analyticity”,“inquisitiveness” four scales.More than half students? critical thinking disposition mean scores are in low level in “systematicity”,“self-confidence” and “maturity” three scales.? There is significant and positive correlation between senior high school students? perceptions of English classroom environment and critical thinking disposition.In other words,students who have higher classroom environment perception do better in critical thinking disposition.In terms of each dimension,most dimensions of senior high school students? perception of English classroom environment are significant correlated with critical thinking disposition.Senior high school students? perceptions of English classroom environment can predict the students? critical thinking disposition but not well.Based on the findings above,some implications are proposed: creating a good environment English environment is very important for students? learning and for teachers to cultivate students? critical thinking disposition.Teacher should take measures to create a good English classroom environment and cultivate students? critical thinking disposition,improve students? critical thinking.
