This article intends to analyze the text based on the official archives and the personal writings of local officials,supplemented by historical materials such as local chronicles,genealogy,newspapers and magazines,on the basis of sorting out the evolution process of the Leping clan weapon fighting for a long period of time and fully revealing the different aspects of the Leping clan weapon fighting in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,in-depth exploration of the characteristics of the Leping clan weapon fighting and its occurrence,development and long-term existence,and make a preliminary discussion on the problems existing in rural governance in the traditional period.Leping's clan fighting has experienced a long period of development,the general trend is that the scale is getting bigger and bigger,and the results are getting worse.Le Ping's clan weapon fighting was roughly invented in the Wanli Dynasty,since Daoguang Dynasty,there were also sporadic.After the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom War broke out,Leping experienced the process of local militarization,the clan clashes have thus shown an explosive growth.During the period of the Republic of China,Leping local society continued to be turbulent,and Leping 's clan fighting developed into a township fighting,the result of the fighting is even more tragic.Compared with the fighting in Fujian and Guangdong,the clan fighting in Jiangxi Leping has the following three characteristics:Firstly,Leping's clan fighting is mostly a confrontation between the big clan;secondly,during the period of the Republic of China,Leping s clan fighting was reduced to a tool used by local forces to fight for power and profit,so it was closely connected with local politics;Thirdly,the Leping clan weapon fighting has formed a rather unique weapon fighting culture.Occurrence,development and long-term existence of Leping clan weapon fighting,in addition to the reasons that scholars have pointed out,clan competition and resource competition,unscrupulous officials and gentry,and the folk customs and other reasons,the decline of central government authority is the biggest externalcause,the failure of the Leping village dispute adjustment mechanism in the traditional period and the government's handling of clan clashes are also very important reasons.The research on the clan fighting in the rural society has certain significance for the current rural governance.First of all,the mediation of rural disputes must be conducted in accordance with the law,and the resolution of disputes must have clear responsibilities and powers,so that the people gradually form legal beliefs.Secondly,the mediation mechanism for rural disputes should be improved,and the design of the rural dispute mediation model should pay attention to its timeliness and effectiveness.Finally,we should resolutely crack down on various forms of violence in rural society and thoroughly eradicate the soil that has spawned rural group violence.
