More and more attention to the research of pedagogical content knowledge(PCK)makes it a research hotspot,which provides a new perspective for the research of teacher education.Through the review of the literature,the author finds that domestic research on PCK of high school English teachers is rare,and the previous empirical research mainly starts with case studies or studies based on classroom practice.This research investigates the current profile of PCK and possible influential factors for PCK of English teachers in high schools.A questionnaire survey was conducted on 102 high school English teachers in different cities and counties of Jiangxi Province.The questionnaire was revised from the questionnaires of Jang(2009).Six of the subjects participated in the interview.After collecting the data,this study used SPSS to analyze the data and the result of the interview was carefully processed.The present study reached the following conclusions:Firstly,the overall situation of high school English teachers' PCK is at above-middle level.Ranking from the highest to the lowest is: knowledge of students,knowledge of organizing teaching content,knowledge of self-reflection,knowledge of teaching situation,knowledge of teaching objectives.Secondly,the reasons for the current status of senior high school English teachers? PCK are as follows: the lack of the initiative to learn teaching objectives and the practice to generalize students? misunderstandings;the lag of teachers? teaching idea and ability to extend all kinds of lessons in English.Besides,the habit of making formal reflection should also be developed with the effort of teachers and schools.Thirdly,teachers? PCK improves with the increase of teachers? teaching experience.In addition,normal students perform better than those graduating from non-teaching majors.The other three factor,teachers? degree,major and teachers? working place have nothing to do with teachers? PCK.Based on the conclusions above,the author put forward relevant suggestions on the development of senior high school teachers? PCK.
