Taking "ethics" as the starting point, this paper analyzes the ethical conflict and tension in Hong Shen's plays, discusses his ethical confusion, and ponders the identity anxiety of playwrights in the face of the demands of The Times and the irreconcilability of their individual creation views.Hong deep family ethics to write write the complicated situation of coexistence of marriage in the old and new ethics and the antagonism and conflict between individual and family, the playwright on women's marriage freedom and personal independence, reflects his thought of modernity, but because the author did not show by traditional ethics depressed individuals in the path of liberation,so this exploration can only superficial.Hong Shen's revolutionary writing shows the ideological regulations on the author and the narrative cracks under such norms.Although the revolution represented by the countryside trilogy describes the struggle between the peasants and the evil forces in the countryside such as the squire and the landlord, the revolutionary ethics has its own one-sidedness under the influence of the peasants' living ethics and the rural local ethics. The conflict between "new" and "old" still exists in Hong Shen's patriotic ethics writing plays."New" shows the author's patriotic feelings through the description and praise of the heroic ACTS of small and medium-sized characters in the Anti-Japanese War,and "old" shows the cover of female subjectivity in the nationalist discourse in the play and the ethical and spiritual crisis hidden behind the vision of "new life" after the victory of the war of resistance against Japan. The "new/old" ethical conflict in Hong Shen's plays is the external manifestation of his identity anxiety. In different historical stages,Hong Shen experienced different identity crises: the enlightenment identity and the crisis behind it in the 1920 s,the revolutionary identity and the swing in the 1930 s,the Anti-Japanese War and the nation-state identity and its confusion in the 1940 s.The depth of the creation conceptof "for life" is deeply influenced by traditional ethics and morality,so the hard choice between tradition and modernity is reflected in the collision and conflict between ethics.
