Denmark is one of the most important movie producers in Scandinavia.Despite its small share in the global market,Denmark achieved remarkable results in encouraging the development of its film industry,promoting cross-country cooperation in motion pictures and extending the international influence of its cinematic productions.Danish efforts in these manners are rather exemplary for other small movie-producing countries.Bille August,humanistic artist and nationally treasured director,has won numerous awards and was the third to join the two-time Palm d'Or club.He has stunned and continues to amaze the world with his narrative abilities and oil-painting-like pictures.Billy Ogust is a director with a strong Nordic style,and minimalist aesthetics is the outstanding style characteristic of his film.His films highlight the relationship between human,human and nature and human and religions in front of a cold and austere background.He explores humanity in different social backgrounds,sheds light on familial cultures and traces the growth of children.His works are called "movies for the soul" due to their philosophical reflections,poetic rendering and deep humanistic concerns.Although his movies display more readily suffering and indifference,they nevertheless empathize the good in people and bring out hope in the audience among a calm and objective atmosphere.Moreover,August never restrict the scope of his stories.He takes the perspectives of difference groups and depicts their internal needs,achieving both diversity and artistry.This present paper studies Billie August from three perspectives.Firstly,the development of Danish film industry is introduced along with explanatory factors for the Augustan style,delineating the director's creative journey and historical role.Secondly,subjects of narration and aesthetic messages are explored from triple aspects: realistic representation of humanistic concerns,portrait of the world of children and depicture of familial cultures.The third part mainly analyzes the minimalist aesthetics of the film,analyzes the minimalism in the form of the movie from the refined and simple audiovisual communication,analyzes the minimalism in the narrative content of the movie from the simple and simple construction of thnarrative space and the true and vivid "image".In all,through a thorough interpretation of the director,this study seeks to unveil the theoretical and artistic richness of his creation and to justly comment on the realistic values that the artist hascontributed to Danish cinema as well as cross-country cinematic communications.
