A Study On Tan Lun’s Rectification Ofjizhen As Well As Its Influence On The Relationship Between The Ming Dynastyand The Mongolia

After Yongle of the Ming Dynasty,the strategic situation of the Ming Dynasty to Mongolia changed from offensive to defensive,and it was unable to carry out the large-scale active Northern Expedition of "plowing the court and sweeping the holes".It could only rely on the passive defense of the northern defense system to resist the frequent southward movements of the Mongolian army.Ji Town as one of the nine important towns,from the beginning of its establishment,was responsible for the protection of the Ming Dynasty capital.However,with the increasing corruption of the Ming Dynasty,the border defense of Ji town went from bad to worse,and it was not able to play the role of defending the capital during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty.Therefore,in the Longqing period,the Ming government enlisted Tan Lun,a famous Anti Japanese general,as the governor of Jiliao,hoping that he could rectify the border defense of Jizhen and fundamentally reverse the decline of the border army fighting with the Mongolian army there.Tan Lun became governor of Jiliao in1568.On the one hand,he strengthened the strength of Jizhen’s border defense by dividing Jizhen into new war zones,striving to protect the grain and salary of Jizhen’sborder army,promoting and reusing the excellent generals of Jizhen.On the other hand,he planned the general policy of Jizhen’s military training,cared for the officers and soldiers,strictly observed the discipline,increased the number of firearms and border defense military facilities,and made clear the top and bottom Control relations and other measures from the micro level to strengthen the combat effectiveness of the local border forces.Tan Lun’s various military reform measures have greatly strengthened Jizhen’s defense in the short term.At last,it analyzes the influence of Tan Lun’s many military reform measures in Jizhen on the development of Ming Mongolian relations at that time.The effect of Tan Lun’s military reform on Ji Town and the strengthening of other military forces in the Ming Dynasty formed a whole,which made the northern border defense force of the Ming Dynasty greatly improved during the reign of Longqing.In this context,Tan Lun’s various reform measures in Jizhen,as an important part of the overall strengthening of the northern border defense policy in the period of muzong,had an impact on the Ming Mongolian relations in a certain sense.
