Research On The Narrative Strategy Of The Cultural Documentary "Invisible Village"

Cultural documentary is a documentary film aimed at the cultural features,national customs in a certain region and the cultural and historical existence changed by human activities.It takes the culture of a specific region as an independent aesthetic object and becomes the subject of image.While recording history and spreading culture,cultural documentaries also shoulder the mission of spreading China’s excellent traditional culture and enhancing the country’s cultural soft power.Such documentaries are based on building citizens’ cultural confidence,enabling the Chinese Communist and the country to move quickly on the path of building a cultural power.In recent years,cultural documentaries have emerged endlessly,and people are paying more and more attention to cultural phenomena.But how to study cultural documentaries from the perspective of narrative strategies to meet the aesthetic needs of contemporary society in order to achieve the purpose of cultural communication is the main issue discussed in this paper.In the early stage of this study,literature research method and comparative analysis method were used to explore the narrative strategies of cultural documentaries on the basis of analyzing the cases of other excellent traditional cultural documentaries.On the one hand,through a horizontal comparison of the outstanding cultural documentaries in the last five years,the study conducted a series of comparative research on their theme content,narrative structure,picture language,sound language,etc.After analyzing and consolidating some specific examples and images,the techniques and methods were summarized and would be applied to the creation of the documentary,"Invisible Village".On the other hand,based on a longitudinal analysis among domestic development of documentaries from cultural documentaries to village documentaries,the study summarized different characteristics during different periods of domestic documentaries from point to area,in order to lay the foundation for creating documentaries that meet the characteristics and requirements of the era.In the late stage of this study,based on the thesis writing,research method and experimental method were implemented to the field trip of the village in depth and the direction of the village culture documentary "Invisible Village".The purpose is to sum up the experience in practice,optimize the narrative methods of cultural documentaries constantly,and extend to the creation of other cultural documentaries.The author sorted out the creative methods cultural documentaries in theme selection,narrative structure,graphics and the use of commentary.It is hoped that these methods could play a certain role in the narrative presentation of cultural documentaries in the future,so that the neglected culture could be protected and valued again,which can promote the use and development of documentaries in cultural protection and historical heritage.
