Since the Song dynasty,the legend of Zhao Kuangyin had enter into the art field.After the development of the dramas and folks of Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasty,a novel called the Flying-Dragon's Biography appeared,which established the heroic image of Zhao Kuangyin.The series of court opera of Zhao Kuangyin in Qing dynasty are based on the notes,fictions,dramas and other sources about Zhao Kuangyin.By increasing and deleting plot of the previous works to make sure these dramas can in line with the court aesthetic.These court opera have a distinct ”royal character”,which are designed to promoting destiny,loyalty.The Qing dynasty's court opera of “Emperor Zhao Kuangyin” can be divided into two major types:the travel experience of Zhao Kuangyin before he established Song dynasty and “Xia Nantang”.The foemer one are adapted by the novel the Flying-Dragon's Biography.The later one mainly originated from Gu Ci,local opera and other folk art.Due to the folk art are changing,there's no definitive edition.Therefore,the story of “Xia Nantang”have a variety version in the court opera,with the same background,but setting of specific plot and arrangement of characters are different.In the series opera,the character of Zhao Kuangyin has been weakened.In the later period of court opera,even appeared some plots such as “killing Zheng En”,which has a bad influence of Zhao Kuangyin image.
