A Report On The E-C Translation Of CSS Supplier Manual(Chapter One To Chapter Seven)

This translation report focuses on the translation of seven chapters of the translation project-CSS Supplier Manual commissioned by Ningbo Shengyu Crafttree International Trade Co.,Ltd.(??????????????)and explores features and methods as well as techniques of business translation under the guidance of Catford's Translation Shift Theory.The current report primarily comprises introduction,task description,process description,source text analysis,case analysis and conclusion.In particular,methods and techniques of business translation in polysemy,terms of business terminologies,here/there + prepositions archaisms,idiomatic expressions as well as long and complex sentence and passive voice and cohesion will be explored under the guidance of Catford' s Translation Shift Theory and the aid of business parallel text.It is summarized in this report that the business agreement text is strictly worded,rigorous in sentence structure and formal in textual style and shows the certain legal binding of the law articles.Therefore,in order to ensure the quality of translation,the translator must has good command of relevant professional background knowledge,ensures that the original information is accurately conveyed,and the translation conforms to the reading habits of the target audience.The author discusses the difficulties encountered in translation process and explores how to apply translation methods and techniques to solve difficulties by analyzing specific cases.The translation methods and techniques frequently exploited in this paper are synchronic translation,reverse translation,division and so on.By summarizing methods and techniques of business agreement text through this translation practice,the author explores supplier's evaluation of the translation quality of the agreement and the cooperation process between suppliers and companies to show the importance of business agreement text in international trade communication,and hopes to play a certain role in promoting the teaching and research in the applied translation field.
