Chinese high school English learning is mainly to train students' five skills: listening,speaking,reading,writing and viewing.Among them,listening comprehension is one of the important ways of language input,and it plays a very important role in foreign language learning.However,in the traditional English classroom,due to the lack of attention to listening,there is no listening class like reading and writing.The listening class mostly uses three steps: listening to materials,checking the answers,and finally explaining the key grammar.Therefore,students lack certain listening skills,especially in the listening part of long conversation.Their major problems are as follows: The speech speed is too fast;the content cannot be understood;they feel anxious and cannot be concentrated on the listening.Therefore,in light of the long conversation part in which students are most likely to lose points,the author builds a new high school English listening teaching mode based on Halliday and Hasan's discourse cohesion theory and Hu Zhuanglin's multi-level discourse cohesion theory.It aims to study:(1)The relationship between discourse cohesive skills and high school students' English listening performance;(2)The influence of high school English listening teaching under the guidance of discourse cohesion theory on high school students' English listening performance.The author selects two classes in the Fuzhou No.40 Middle School for a three-month teaching empirical study.The study uses questionnaires,pre-test,post-test and interviews and analyzes the SPSS data to understand the impact of the teaching mode on students' English listening performance.The research results show that the discourse cohesion skills are highly correlated with the students' listening performance.The English listening teaching mode under the discourse cohesion is conducive to improving the high school students' English listening performance,and has a certain reference value for high school English listening teaching.
