The Study Of Treasures And Artifact In The Legend Of Deification

The Legend of Deification is a distinguished literary work based on the battle between Shang and Zhou(two dynasties in ancient China)as its historical background.During the battle,various treasures and artifacts show their magical powers.It is a representative work of Ming and magic novels,which creates an extraordinary world full of magic and imagination.The treasures and artifacts presented in the works are important carriers to promote the plot of the story and to highlight the characteristics of all the figures.This thesis,taking the treasures and artifacts in the Legend of Deificationand their historical origin and cultural connotation as the research object,uses literature analysis,case analysis,and other research methods to comprehensively interpret this novel from the perspective of narrative characteristics,effects and significance of the treasures in the novel.And this thesis analyzes the embodiment of the treasures from the cultural perspective and elucidated the novel through the cultural elements,thoughts and spirits represented by the treasures and artifacts.This thesis are mainly presented from the following four chapters:The first chapter analyzes the mount treasures,which can be divided intofour types: normal beasts,legendary beasts,birds and water beasts.The typical mounts such as horse,ox,deer,kylin and Qingluan(a kind of bird in ancient Chinese legend)are selected to make a detailed analysis from the cultural origin and cultural connotation.This chapter also summarizes their common characteristics,narrative characteristics and the relationships between the mount treasures and the characterization.The second chapter analyzes the treasures of daily utensils,and divides the treasures of daily utensils into four types: gourds,orbs,mirrors and fans.The typical treasures such as Gourd,Dinghaizhu(bead of stabilizing sea),Zhaoyaojian(mirror discerning ghosts),the Fan of Five Fires and Seven Birds are analyzed in detail from the aspects of cultural origin,cultural connotation,and magical functions.This chapter also summarizes household utensils' functions,narrative characteristics,and relationship between them and characterization.From a macro point of view,the treasures in the novel are considered to be the animals and plants with special functions or utensils related to daily life,and are magical objects that can determine the outcome of the battle.Many treasures have the origins of Taoism and Buddhism culture,which reflects the characteristics of the integration of Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism.At the same time,the use of the elements of fire and water in the treasures also reflects the characteristics of the five elements in ancient China.Finally,the main research contents and viewpoints of this paper are summarized in the last chapter.Through the above research,we can not only have a deeper understanding of the relationship between the Ming and Qing demon novels and reality,the narrative characteristics of popular novels,the status of the treasure narrative in the The Legend of Deification,but also the complex relationships such as deified thinking,mystical worship.And we learn from the perspective of inheritance and criticism of traditional Chinese culture.We can also understand the significance of the story behind the treasures in The Legend of Deification from a cultural perspective and explore its source.
