To prove whether the scaffolding instruction can help students deal with the writing problems and know about the changes of students' writing situations,the thesis reports the study on the improved process of writing lessons for senior high school students.The participants involved in the study are 76 students from a senior high school in Tianjin.Students who are from two paralleled classes,are asked to have four writing lessons to write English compositions with the guidance of scaffolding instruction.The paper uses the tests to identify students' writing problems.The questionnaires are used to know about the writing situations of students.Meanwhile,the classroom observation scale is to observe the writing lessons and offer the teacher suggestions for improvement.The process of analyzing the data contains two tasks.Comparing with the data from the questionnaire,the first task is to make sure that the scaffolding instruction can help students deal with the writing problems that students have encountered in the process of writing.On the basis of knowing the times of scaffolding in the compositions of the post-test,the second is to know about the changes of writing situations.The results show that the scaffolding instruction is able to help students solve the specific writing problems and students can make process in vocabulary,grammar,the passage structure and the key contents by means of applying the scaffolding to the compositions.Meanwhile,students take positive attitudes toward the writing lessons with scaffolding theory.The lessons can alsocultivate the ability of cooperating with peers and evaluating in groups.Furthermore,the time of the lessons should be 50 minutes at least.Students need enough time to construct the old and new knowledge.Teacher should spend more time organizing students to take part in the activities and offering students assistance in the lessons.Due to the limited time,the results from the study can merely be taken as an attempt to be developed in the future.Further studies on lessons should pay more attention to making the activities complete and rich.
