Teacher's utterance is a tool for teachers to organize and implement teaching in the classroom, which can effectively help students to learn English.Teacher's feedback,as an important part of teacher's utterance, plays an irreplaceable role in promoting students' English learning.Teacher's feedback can not only evaluate students' learning and let students know their learning situation and accuracy, but also promote students' learning motivation and improve students' learning enthusiasm through the interaction between teachers and students. Therefore,it is very important to improve the teachers' awareness of classroom feedback and the quality of novice teachers' classroom feedback. Two expert teachers and two novice teachers in Tianjin No.25 Middle School are the subjects of this study. This study uses classroom observation and interview to explore the similarities and differences between expert teachers and novice teachers in using classroom feedback and the two types of teachers' attitude towards teacher's feedback.Based on the analysis of the data, this study draws the following conclusions:(1)Expert teachers and novice teachers prefer to use the single feedback, and as for the types of single feedback, the most frequently used type is positive feedback. In terms of the complex feedback, the most frequently used by expert teachers and novice teachers are positive feedback and repetition.(2)The total number of feedback used by expert teachers is higher than that of novice teachers. In the use of single feedback, the frequency of expert teachers is higher than that of novice teachers. As for the complex feedback, the frequency of teacher's feedback used by novice teachers is higher than expert teachers. And novice teachers use more types of feedback than expert teachers.(3)Both expert teachers and novice teachers believe that teacher's feedback plays an important role in class and both tend to use positive feedback. In addition, novice teachers believe that teachers should give corrections to students immediately when students make mistakes, while expert teachers believe that when students give some words or short sentences which contain mistakes, teachers should provide students with immediate feedback and correction;when students are writing stories and organizing ideas, teachers should give feedback after they finish the task.Based on the findings of this study, this paper puts forward the following suggestions for English teachers: Firstly, both expert teachers and novice teachers should improve their understanding of teacher's feedback and pay attention to the use of classroom feedback.Secondly, expert teachers and novice teachers should be flexible in the use of various types of classroom feedback. Finally, expert teachers and novice teachers should reflect the use of their own teacher's feedback and communicate with each other to improve their ability to use feedback.
