This article studies animal idioms in chinese and brazilian portuguese.By comparing the frequency of animal idioms in these two different languages and their meanings in their respective cultural backgrounds,analyzing the differences in meaning and reasons of those differences.This paper mainly includes four parts: first,it introduces the theoretical concepts related to animal idioms.The second chapter describes the definition,origin and characteristics of idioms in the two languages.The third chapter first analyzes the animals that appear in the animal idioms of China and Brazil,and then obtains the animals that appear most frequently in chinese and brazilian-portuguese,analysing different factors in history and other aspects.After that,the author compared and explained the cultural connotation behind chinese and brazilian-portuguese animal idioms from the aspects of social and cultural background,natural conditions,lifestyles and people's feelings about animals.Finally,the author puts forward some strategies and suggestions for the classroom teaching of chinese animal idioms based on the previous analysis of chinese and brazilian animal idioms,hoping that be helpful to the teaching process of animal idioms.
