Nihility Feeling And Its Overcoming

As a member of the"post-70s"writers,Sheng Keyi started writing in the early 21^st century,making her mark on the literary world with two long novels"Shuiru"and"Beimei"that were written with a recognizable and sharp language and quickly establishing her own style.From the existing research,the academic research on Sheng Keyi’s novels mainly focuses on the sexual relations,underlying consciousness and narrative characteristics reflected in the text.However,the author believes that the nihility feeling is a spiritual core that cannot be ignored throughout the novels of Sheng Keyi.On the one hand,the nihility feeling generated by love and human survival value is the universal mental state of modern people described by Sheng Keyi;On the other hand,Sheng Keyi is also constantly looking for ways to overcome nihility while pointing out the pervasive nihility feeling in modern society.This thesis will take Sheng Keyi’s novel creation as the object,and focus on the investigation and analysis of the nihility of love and human survival value embodied in the novels and discuss the spiritual composition of her novels on the basis of combing and summarizing the existing research results.The thesis is composed of five parts:The first part is the introduction.The overall idea and intention of this thesis are established in the integration and analysis of the existing research results,that is,it tries to take the nihility feeling as the core of Sheng Keyi’s novels and discusses its unique significance for the current society.The second part is the nihility of love.This thesis discusses the lack of love in modern society from three aspects of the sexualization of love,the materialization of women in patriarchal society and the internal strife between men and women.The third part is the nihility of survival value.It mainly analyzes the significance of human existence in three aspects:the loneliness of people in society arising from their not being understood,their overindulgence in desire and the evil intentions hidden in human nature.The fourth part is the breakout against the mist of nihility.This thesis analyzes how Sheng Keyi faces the current spiritual dilemma and finds the possibility of overcoming or surpassing nihility in the face of the universal nihility state of modern people,which is mainly carried out from the two aspects of self-spiritual emancipation and poetic transcendence.The fifth part is the conclusion.In the creation of Sheng Keyi’s novels,both the demonstration of the nihility of love and survival significance in modern society and the efforts to overcome it are carried out around the freedom and dignity of people,which is also the significance of Sheng Keyi’s creation of novels.
