Graham Greene is one of the first important writers after the peak of British modernism literature.In his creative career of more than half a century,he has always been concerned about the spiritual rescue and moral struggle of modern people in the20 th century,full of humanistic care.This thesis takes the short stories of graham Greene as the research object,and on the basis of in-depth reading of the text,it tries to make an all-round discussion on the short stories of graham Greene from the three aspects of theme,theme and artistic style.The thesis is divided into two parts.The introduction briefly introduces the life and creation of Greene and the research status at home and abroad,and points out the purpose and significance of this paper.The main text is divided into three chapters:the first chapter analyzes the diversity of themes of green's short stories based on his collection of short stories.The themes of his short stories are mainly divided into three categories: childhood theme,political and religious themes,gender conflict.The themes of gender conflict and childhood theme account for the majority,showing the indifference of family life and Greene's thoughts on human nature.In the second chapter,green's short stories are divided into three main categories: dilemma,politics and religion,which shows his close attention to the social reality of the 20 th century.The third chapter is the focus of this paper,which mainly discusses Greene's breakthrough and innovation in the artistic style of novels on the basis of realistic creation techniques.Different realism writers through the characters and the plot is to represent the vast social life,green is the general atmosphere of "green" novel shape and unique "dream world" to show their care for social reality,and through to the modern film skills,broadening the forms of the novel,so that the novel has deeper connotation.Both the layout of the scene of the novel and the tempering of the language are extremely exquisite,showing the writer's unique writing style.
