Eugene A.Nida pointed out that language not merely reflects reality, but also distorts it.When the reality is distorted, language parallax comes into being. As a special phenomenon in linguistics, the existence of language parallax results from the influence of different thinking patterns and cultural specifics. It is important to recognize that language parallax is unavoidable in switching two language codes. Therefore, the thesis attempts to discuss language parallax in political discourse and its translation, hoping to reveal how dynamic equivalence of language parallax is achieved in translation.Language is regarded as a sign. The arbitrary relationship between language and the thing it refers to will sometimes lead to twisted effect.Ferdinand de Saussure focused on the connection between the signifier and the signified. In his opinion, the sign has meaning only when the signifier and the sign are combined. And whether the combination of the signifier and the signified can produce the same meaning in the two language systems directly determines whether language parallax will occur. After that,Charles S.Peirce made a detailed explanation of semiotics and put forward his trichotomy-oriented theory.A sign is defined as something that is capable of representing another thing in a certain capacity for one person, that is,the meaning of a sign varies from person to person and has the attribute of uncertainty.Later,Charles Morris introduced semiotics into semantic research.Based on Charles S.Peirce's theory,Morris extended the tri-relation into semantic, syntactic and pragmatic relation with the aim to explore referential meaning, linguistic meaning and pragmatic meaning. This thesis discusses the translation of language parallax from the perspective of referential meaning, linguistic meaning and pragmatic meaning and makes a case study of political discourse translation. It attempts to explore language parallax in political discourse to see how dynamic equivalence of language parallax is achieved in translation, reaching the following conclusions:1)Language parallax does exist in political discourse. In the sense of reference,it is mainly represented by hyponym, polysemy, metonymy, and metaphor; In the linguistic sense,it is mainly represented by anadiplosis and antithesis; In the pragmatic sense,it is mainly reflected in expressions with cultural connotations and political euphemism;2)Language parallax in political discourse has brought great challenges to translators so that translators have to take effective measures to cope with it.For example, words and expressions with cultural connotations have been rewritten in different degrees so that the English version is easier for foreigners to understand and accept;3)The study on language parallax in political discourse and its translation helps to integrate Chinese and foreign political discourse, which is significant in spreading Chinese culture and improving the effects of external communication.
