Abstract/Summary:
Making friends is a common phenomenon in the world of human life: how people become friends, how people choose friends, and how to maintain friendship have conditions and principles, which have created a rich and diverse culture of friendship. In Chinese tradition, friends are one of the "Five Ethics",which make outstanding contributions to the establishment and maintenance of social order. In many classics, there is no lack of discussion about friends;the Analects of Confucius is no exception. It is not difficult to find that the systematization of friendship in the Analects has begun to take shape, which shows the foundational function of friendship.Under the system of friendship in the Analects, the development of friendship starts from a specific and unified premise;the choice of friendship reaches a consensus because of the adherence to a core principle;the maintenance of friendship benefits from the repeated reiteration of an important concept;these parts,as the construction content of the system of friendship in the Analects, are integrated in the perspective of a human relations order.Specifically, from the perspective of human relations order, the system of friendship in the Analects is based on the premise of "learning",the core principle of "no friend is better than yourself",and the maintenance of friendship is realized by the recurring concept of "faith".In the combination of the above premises, principles and concepts, the friendship in the Analects has realized the origin of the "Five Ethics" of Confucianism.
