A Study On The Choosing Mechanism Of Same-Morpheme And Contrary-Order Synonym In Chinese

Same- Morpheme and Contrary-Order Synonym are such a group of synonyms that their morphemes are the same and the orders of the morphemes are contrary.Previous studies mainly focus on its origin, development, category and discrimination. Some focus on material collection and categorization, some focus on the study of the Same-Morpheme and Contrary-Order Synonym of a certain book or a certain author. Previous studies mainly focus on the static facet of Same- Morpheme and Contrary-Order Synonym, neglecting the dynamic usage and features of it. Starting from the angel of language using and utilizing the theory of mental lexicon and speech production, this thesis tries to discover the mechanisms of why language users choose one of a pair of synonym rather than the other.Based on previous studies and on a study of corpus, it combines the dynamic use and static description of the Same- Morpheme and Contrary-Order Synonym, and goes on a comprehensive study from the angles of definition, semantics, structure, function, rhetoric, and standard of this group of synonym.The thesis utilizes the theories from psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics, proposes word-frequency mechanism, semantic-centre mechanism, phonetic rhetoric-mechanism, semantic rhetoric-mechanism, genre-style mechanism and collocation-mechanism. The thesis also sequences the priority of these mechanisms.
