The thesis conducts in-depth analysis and discussion around the description of the class and race in the novel, showing that there is a serious class division in the Mecomm society constructed in To Kill a Mockingbird: the upper and middle whites despise the lower whites, while the bottom Whites can oppress blacks unscrupulously. In this context, black people naturally become Mecomm's other and marginal existence. The child narrative perspective adopted in the text has played a role in correcting white racist ideas to a certain extent. The author also expressed her concept of surpassing racial prejudice and pursuing racial equality and integration. Therefore, placing To Kill a Mockingbird in the American literature's writing tradition on the topic of race since the nineteenth century has historical rationality and textual reality. The racist picture shown in the text also has typical symptoms of post-colonialism.The full text is divided into six parts: consisting of introduction, four chapters of the main text and conclusion. The introduction part briefly introduces the author Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird;briefly summarizes the history of racism written in American literature;comprehensively discusses the domestic and foreign research status of To Kill a Mockingbird The research ideas and methods of the thesis. The first part deeply analyzes the class order of “various grades and ranks”within the white race, highlighting the embarrassment and helplessness of the white people at the bottom of the system and the pain and silence of the white women at the bottom under the oppression of the patriarchy. The second part mainly analyzes the tragic encounters of the black ethnic group at the bottom of the “racial order system”,revealing that the black people are always in aphasia under the white people's right to speak, thereby exposing that the white laws cannot really protect the black rights. The third part focuses on analyzing the children's perspective adopted in the novel.Observe the Mecomm society full of racial discrimination through children's innocent and unbiased vision, and then explore the different attitudes of the white people towards black people, and eliminate the prejudice of thought through children,so that more adults can be Salvation. The fourth part is based on an in-depth analysis of the racial inequality in the novel, and further revealsthe conservative attitude implied by the author when writing black misfortune as a white man, expressing the author's desire to achieve racial integration. The concluding part summarizes the class prejudice and racial discrimination exposed in the text, expresses that the author Harper Lee wants to maintain the justice of the law,and calls for the establishment of an unbiased and equal American new southern society.
