| The main content of this research is the inheritance of Chinese in the new generations of Indonesian Chinese.We carried out the questionnaire survey and the interview which are mainly revolved around the situation of practice towards heritage language,the proficiency of Chinese,the identity of language,ethnic and the cultural and other aspects related to the heritage language.Finally,we found out that the overall linguistic outlook of the new generation of Indonesian Chinese is basically characterized by a situation in which Indonesian is the main language,Chinese dialects are secondary,and Mandarin is available.There is a phenomenon of language conversion within the family and it is mainly concentrated on the Cenozoic and Mesozoic family members.However,the decline of heritage language transmission function from generation to generation is not significant.The potential factors influencing the heritage language transmission include the type of family structure,the language ecological environment around the family,the practice of heritage language in the family,the identity of the inheritor to the language,the ethnic group,the culture and so on.The potential factors influencing Chinese cultural heritage include the ability of heritage language,religious attributes of belief,the attitude of family language managers towards traditional culture and so on.Based on the results above,we finally put forward some countermeasures from three main language management domains of families,Chinese schools and the government in order to better promote the Indonesian Chinese to maintain Chinese as their heritage language.It mainly includes "relying on the speech community,strengthening and perfecting the language and cultural management within and outside the family" "reforming the management mode of Chinese schools" "improving the quality of teachers,teaching materials and teaching methods of Chinese schools" "lowering the threshold of green card" "Perfecting the form of root-seeking activities". |
