A Tentative Study On The Role Of Translation Checking

Law is a profession of words.For both newcomers and veterans in the translation field,retaining the features of legal tomes is of paramount importance.In view of this,the most efficient approach to achieving the desired effects is to polish the translation works.Base on the MTI student's translation practice,I probe into how the translation checking helps to improve the students' translation works from two prospective,namely,the rephrasing of literary expression and legal terms.Hopefully,identifying and rectifying the defects found their rendition will lead us to see the causes of lame translation from multiple dimensions,hence the need to sharpen our translation skills.Instead of only checking such miscellaneous things as misspelling,omission,punctuation and grammar mistakes,translation checking also retains the original style of the source text,making it stay professional and accurate.The analysis of typical examples shows that polishing translation work optimizes the reading experience.For legal literature,the importance of translation checking lies in the effective delivery of legal information,correcting the mistakes on the part of fledgling and ensuring translation lives up to the code of prudence and accuracy.
